On December 21, at 19:24, the 911 service received an alert that a vehicle, an Opel Astra, had broken down at the beginning of Masis city in the Ararat region. There was a gas leak reported.

A firefighting and rescue team from the regional emergency management agency was dispatched to the scene. The rescuers de-energized the vehicle and closed the valve of the gas cylinder.
