168 Hours: Why Larisa Alaverdyan is Leaving the Public Council

168 Hours reports: "In Armenia, nothing is politicized; rather, it is adapted to the ruling group. The Public Council can also be adapted to the goals of this group without understanding what the ideology is," said Larisa Alaverdyan, a member of the Public Council, in a conversation with us, emphasizing that she will resign from the Council.

She highlighted that her decision is absolutely unrelated to the appointment of the new president of the Council, Stepan Safaryan. "During this past year, there have been certain things that have disturbed me. It concerns the straightforward opinion expressed by Vazgen Manukyan, which became the basis for the Prime Minister to retaliate against him. The Prime Minister did not answer his calls, and they did not engage in a working regime. Vazgen Manukyan was not just a person; he was the president of the Public Council. The skill of power is not evident when it works entirely with its own, but rather when that power can also work constructively with those who openly criticize it."
