Attention: From Now On, Drivers Will Pay State Duties to Appeal Police Fines in Administrative Court

Member of the National Assembly’s Prosperous Armenia faction, Naira Zohrabyan, made a Facebook post entitled "Aren’t you telling drivers about the changes to the law, so that holiday spirits won’t be ruined?" In her post, she specifically mentioned:

“Recently, the parliamentary majority approved the draft law on the implementation of a points system for traffic regulation. I will delve into the expected 'circular' of the points system in detail later. But for now, a little ‘warning’ for drivers, so that they are not caught off guard during this pre-holiday period and go quietly to the administrative court.

So, if a traffic officer fines you, say, 2000 dram, but you are sure that you did not commit that violation, take a deep breath before appealing and approaching the administrative court. Because previously, drivers were exempt from state duties in appeals against decisions of administrative bodies, but now they are required to pay 4000 dram to file an appeal in the administrative court. Even if you are fined 1000 dram, you still have to pay if you want to contest the act issued by the traffic officer.

So, proud and unwavering compatriots, as classic literature goes, sit quietly in your places and pay the fine written by the traffic officer. I hope I didn’t ruin anyone’s festive mood.”
