Possible Opportunities for Compromises on the Nagorno-Karabakh Issue, Says Lavrov
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, stated during a meeting in Baku with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov that there are opportunities for reaching compromises on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, as reported by the Azerbaijani Minval.az.
“We understand that there are options for reaching compromises. It is not an easy matter; the conflict is one of the longest-lasting in the former USSR territory. But we are grateful to our Azerbaijani partners for the understanding of the ideas put forward by Russia as a member of the OSCE Minsk Group,” said Lavrov.
According to him, his communications today and yesterday have allowed for a better understanding of how to attempt to move forward. “I hope there will be results,” Lavrov added.
