Genocide Should Not Be Used to Sell More Helicopters to a Dictator: Serj Tankian
Serj Tankian, the vocalist of the American-Armenian rock band System of a Down, commented on his Facebook page regarding the decision of the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
He wrote: “Thank you to the U.S. House of Representatives for properly characterizing U.S. history and the Armenian Genocide in memory of my ancestors and all their relatives. Genocide should never be used for political expediency or to sell more helicopters to a dictator. From now on, it will be more difficult for Turkey to play games with the U.S. State Department on this issue, although I am sure they will try. It is important that there are economic sanctions also related to Turkey's illegal invasion of Syria. The Senate resolution is next.”
It is worth noting that the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
