I Did Not Give Testimony, I Provided Information: Davtyan on Khachaturov's Case
During a meeting with reporters, the Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Artak Davtyan, stated that there were no testimonies regarding Yuri Khachaturov, who held the position of Chief of the General Staff during the April War, but an information report was provided in the context of the case 'Yuri Khachaturov vs. Stepan Grigoryan.'
Artak Davtyan mentioned in court that on April 2, 2016, after receiving information about the offensive activities of the adversary, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Yuri Khachaturov reported to the service location approximately 20–25 minutes later, around 03:10–03:15, and managed the army directly from his command center.
It should be noted that there were publications in the media indicating that at the moment of receiving information about the Azerbaijani attack, Yuri Khachaturov was playing billiards. Davtyan stated that the rest should be clarified by the court, and he presented the available data. 'Everything is documented; it is a chain. It is not my wish; everything is documented, starting from the checkpoint to the duty section,' emphasized the lieutenant general, confirming that the information report was provided 1.5 years ago, but it is only being circulated now.
Regarding the work of the commission investigating the circumstances of the April War, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces stated that he was not invited to clarify the events of April. 'I hope I will be summoned,' added Davtyan.
Speaking about the appropriateness of having a commission, Artak Davtyan said that it is a decision made by political authorities, and he, as a military officer, is ready to clarify if there are professional questions.
