Local Elections: Voter Entered Polling Station Without ID Accompanied by Grandmother
During the mayoral elections in the community of Ghazaravan in the Aragatsotn region, a voter entered the polling station accompanied by her grandchild, who insisted that his grandmother could not vote alone.
According to Hetq.am, the chairperson of the commission, Nana Matevosyan, asked the voter if she could vote by herself, to which the woman responded affirmatively. However, her grandchild insisted that he also needed to enter the voting booth because his grandmother did not have her glasses and could not do it alone.
The commission chairperson asked the grandchild to leave the booth. It turned out that the grandchild had come to the polling station without his ID. The woman was provided with glasses and entered the voting booth alone while her grandchild waited outside.
Commission member Karine Sargsyan noted that the woman had poor vision and could not vote alone, warning that the ballot could be declared invalid.
It is important to note that Ghazaravan has 410 voters, and as of 09:58, only 17 had participated in the elections.
