News: Reports Indicate Arrest News Prompted Hayk Harutyunyan's Suicide

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that former police chief Hayk Harutyunyan, found dead in his private residence in Bjni, was officially described as having committed suicide. He was scheduled to be interrogated regarding the March 1 case on September 24. We previously reported this, and the Special Investigation Service did not deny our information.

As known, this would not have been Harutyunyan's first interrogation. According to the Special Investigation Service, he was to be questioned. “However, I cannot specify the date,” said a spokesperson from the service to "Hraparak". They declined to answer further questions.

So, what pushed the general to take such an extreme step? It is hard to believe that it was merely the prospect of being questioned. According to our information, on September 23, just hours or perhaps minutes before being summoned by the Special Investigation Service, Harutyunyan learned that his procedural status would change the next day, and he would likely face charges and be detained. This news was conveyed to him the same day by a person close to the police. It is this news of his impending arrest that is believed to have driven the general to suicide.
