Penalties for Pickpockets to Be Toughened
In Armenia, there is a proposal to tighten penalties for pickpockets.
As stated by Anna Vardapetyan, the Deputy Minister of Justice, during a parliamentary session, pickpocketing incidents have increased in recent years, posing a serious threat to society.
She highlighted a package of amendments to the Criminal Code that seeks to impose penalties for such crimes ranging from 200 to 500 times the minimum wage or imprisonment for a period of 1 to 2 months or up to 2 years.
