Businesses Protest Against 'Ashtarak Milk' Company: 2500 Lawsuits Filed
The bankrupt administrators of 'Ashtarak Milk' have filed lawsuits against approximately 2500 business operators, demanding that they pay again for products that they have already purchased. This was revealed to Tert.am today by the businesses in front of the government building.
“In 'Ashtarak Milk', there was a cash transaction method, where shopkeepers paid to the delivery personnel, and the delivery personnel handed over the money to the cashiers. Now, the delivery personnel confirm that they collected money from the shops and handed it over to the ‘Ashtarak Milk' cashier, but there is no evidence showing that the shopkeepers made those payments. This has been a premeditated fraud. There is testimony from the former chief accountant of 'Ashtarak Milk' confirming that the shops paid the delivery personnel,” said businessman Karen Hovhannisyan, noting that it appears 'Ashtarak Milk' wants the previously paid amounts to be paid again.
Thus, the businesses are demanding that the new government quickly resolves the issue. “We demand that this issue be brought to the immediate attention of the government. The government is proposing programs related to new jobs. Today, you are unable to maintain 2500 jobs. What guarantee do the people have that jobs will be created in the future if you can't maintain the current ones?” the businessman stated.
Hovhannisyan noted that the government has been unable to provide clear information on the status of the case. “The debt has exceeded 2 billion. The shopkeepers have repeatedly requested the receipts that should have been provided after handing over the money to the cashier. The delivery personnel have argued that they don’t operate with receipts; they work with carriers,” said the businessman. He indicated that the case is in a dormant state and that they are being told that new circumstances need to be clarified.
