A Factory Counterfeiting Well-Known Brands of Detergents Discovered in Ajaria
Employees from the investigative service of Georgia's Ministry of Finance have discovered a factory in Ajaria where detergents of well-known brands were being counterfeited. This was reported today by the press service of the agency.
The investigation revealed that cheap laundry powders and other cleaning agents were being packaged under the names of the popular brands Persil and Ariel.
As a result of the findings, two individuals were subjected to criminal liability – the director of the underground detergent-producing factory and his deputy. The investigative service seized a large quantity of finished products, as well as household chemicals and packaging materials.
A criminal case has been initiated under the article of “illegal use of a trademark,” which is punishable by a fine or imprisonment for 3 to 5 years.
