47 Patients Diagnosed with Intestinal Infection at Berd Medical Center, Mostly Children
Currently, 47 patients from the community of Navur in the Tavush Province are receiving treatment for intestinal infection at the Berd Medical Center, most of whom are children. This has been reported by NEWS.am.
"The condition of the patients is moderately severe but stable. Most of the patients are children under the age of 20, and they all exhibit the same symptoms: diarrhea, fever, vomiting, and nausea, which indicate an intestinal infection," hospital representatives said, adding that a significant number of patients from the same location has not been recorded previously, and the reason is likely the drinking water. Specialists are currently working in the area.
It is recalled that on April 16-17, several residents of the Navur community visited the Berd Medical Center with the same symptoms: diarrhea, high fever, vomiting, and nausea.
The Ministry of Health has reported that most of the patients are using two supply lines from the same water source, one of which is in a very unsatisfactory sanitary condition.
Based on the obtained data, specialists have concluded that the likely cause of the recorded cases of intestinal infectious diseases is the contamination of the water supply lines.
