Official of VTB Armenia Bank Arrested for Embezzling 42 Million Drams
On the day before yesterday, police detained Nelli Harutyunyan, a 38-year-old resident of Vayots Dzor province, according to Shamshyan.com. It is noted that Harutyunyan had been employed at the “VTB Armenia Bank” CJSC’s “Yeghegnadzor” branch since August 4, 2006, and had been serving as the head of the operational department at the branch since September 2014.
Between June 2016 and June 2017, while carrying out the cash loading and unloading processes at an ATM located outside the “Yeghegnadzor” branch at 8 Narekatsi Street, Yeghegnadzor, and from February to June 2017, also at the ATM situated within the branch, she embezzled a substantial amount of money in installments.
According to G. Shamshyan’s information, the total amount embezzled is 42 million 316 thousand drams, causing particularly significant property damage to “VTB Armenia Bank” CJSC. In relation to this fact, a criminal case was initiated in 2017 in the Vayots Dzor regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia based on the characteristics of Article 179, Part 3, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code.
According to G. Shamshyan’s information, the investigative department appealed to the court where the court approved the investigator's petition and chose arrest as a measure of restraint for Nelli Harutyunyan, who has been transferred to the Abovyan women's colony.
Notice: The suspect in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty under the procedure established by the RA Criminal Procedure Code, by a legal court decision that has entered into force.
