Is Moscow Warning Armenia and Azerbaijan? Zakharova Discusses Risks in Relations with Russia
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that Russian society unconditionally considers the 'neo-Nazi regime' of Ukraine unacceptable, especially in terms of 'love games' by allies and partners. During a press briefing, Zakharova commented on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement regarding Ukraine's contribution to the independence of post-Soviet countries. Zelensky also spoke about the need to deepen relations with Azerbaijan and mentioned that ties with Armenia are being restored 'for the first time in a long time.'
According to Zakharova, this position is shared not only by official structures but also by Russian citizens, who are targeted by Kyiv's terrorist attacks and wonder how some friendly and allied countries, officials, and politicians do not notice all this. She noted that they condemn visits to Kyiv and the fraternization with terrorist leaders who openly talk about destroying everything Russian, shell civilian objects daily, and kill peaceful residents, including citizens of CIS countries.
Moreover, they justify the Bandera supporters of Hitler's Germany, against whom millions of citizens from all Soviet republics gave their lives to achieve victory. Zakharova emphasized that it is impossible to understand why it is necessary to host representatives of the Ukrainian junta, participate in politicized gatherings, and provide platforms for threats against Russia. She stressed that, rather than ignoring or silencing, they will appeal to their conscience because such a policy carries serious risks, including in the context of relations with Russia.
Zakharova also added that it is unbecoming for the leadership of Kyiv to speak about the independence of other countries, as under their governance, Ukraine has completely lost any semblance of independence, falling into financial, economic, and military dependence on Western sponsors, and has destroyed the emerging Ukrainian statehood.
