No Murders Recorded in Lori Province: Interior Minister Summarizes Half-Year Results

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, during her visit to Lori Province, summarized the results of the police's work for the first half of 2026. Representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police attended the meeting.

According to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Lori Provincial Police, a total of 334 crimes were recorded during the reporting period. No murders were reported; however, five cases of attempted murder and preparation for murder were disclosed. Additionally, a criminal organization and groups were neutralized.

The presented data indicates an increase in crimes against public safety, public order, and the health of the population. This is primarily attributed to a more active detection of cases of driving without a license.

Reports were also presented by the heads of regional divisions of the Community Police, Patrol Service, as well as the police guard's departments in Vanadzor and Tumanyan, detailing the results of their operations.

In various departments of the Community Police, both trends of crime reduction and increase were observed. In some divisions, crimes against individuals and property decreased, while there was an increase in cases of domestic violence, illegal drug trafficking, and economic offenses.

Employees of the Patrol Service in Lori Province compiled 45,274 administrative reports in the first half of the year, which is 3,994 more than in the same period last year. A total of 88 crimes were detected. Despite an increase in traffic accidents, the number of fatalities decreased.

Summarizing the results, Arpine Sargsyan positively assessed the effectiveness of crime fighting in Lori Province and instructed to continue efforts in uncovering criminal groups, combating the circulation of illegal weapons and drugs, and preventing crimes against property. The Minister also emphasized the necessity of responding swiftly to reports of crimes against minors, domestic violence, and violations of sexual integrity.
