Europe Hesitant to Support US Mission in Hormuz: Politico
European allies are still unprepared to support the US-led mission aimed at patrolling the Strait of Hormuz, as confidence in the stability of a ceasefire regime with Iran remains uncertain, reports Politico.
According to the publication, representatives from the US and the United Kingdom plan to hold an international conference in London to determine the allocation of roles among participating countries, including clearance of maritime areas and escort of commercial vessels. However, sources indicate that the initiative is in its early stages, and significant progress is not expected in the near future.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has called on the United Kingdom and France to assist in leading the proposed international coalition.
