Russia Bans Import of Flowers from Armenia
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) has decided to temporarily suspend the import of flowers from the Republic of Armenia starting May 22. According to the agency, the restrictions will remain in place until inspections of Armenian greenhouse enterprises are completed and the analysis of the obtained data is summarized.
The Russian side justifies this move by the necessity to ensure its own phytosanitary safety and protect the country's export potential. According to the agency's clarification, despite the guarantees provided by Armenian responsible authorities, quarantine pests and objects considered harmful to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) territory continue to be found in Armenian flower shipments.
Official data indicates that there have already been 135 recorded violations during the current period. This figure represents about 77 percent of the total cases identified throughout the previous year, 2025.
