In an interview with Axios, the American leader noted that he likes Herzog and that the latter would become a national hero if he grants a pardon to "Bibi," adding that he would greatly appreciate it.

Trump has characterized the ongoing six-year corruption trial against Netanyahu as "wine and cigars," emphasizing that the trial casts Israel in a bad light. "Is he in the judicial process during the height of the war? Well, that's just great," he expressed outrage.

It is worth noting that Netanyahu previously appealed to President Herzog for a pardon, arguing that dropping the charges would contribute to national unity.
