Inflation Sets New Records: 'Pats'
The 'Pats' newspaper reports that inflation in March reached 4.5%, an increase from February's rate of 4.3%. According to the 'Lus' Foundation's observations, this indicates persistent pressure on prices due to demand in conditions of high economic activity. Simultaneously, regional tensions and potential supply complications affect supply.
In this context, the refinancing rate remains unchanged at 6.5%. These statistical figures are concerning, especially for vulnerable groups, for whom inflation is more pronounced. Although the overall index encompasses various product groups, basic necessities in Armenia often experience greater price increases than non-essential goods. In recent years, the rapid rise in prices of essential goods has worsened the situation for underprivileged individuals.
In April, new price hikes were also recorded, linked to fuel, meat, and vegetables. According to the publication, the authorities and their close associates are becoming wealthier, while the population is gradually becoming poorer.
