U.S. Embassy in Armenia Issues Statement

Historic progress on the path to building a peaceful and prosperous South Caucasus. This was stated in a announcement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Armenia.

“Today, a meeting took place in Kars between Armenian and Turkish officials to establish a joint working group on the reconstruction of the Kars-Gyumri railway. The restoration of this key link between Armenia and Turkey is an important step towards opening regional transport routes and ensuring regional stability. Foundations for such pivotal developments were laid at the summit held in Washington on August 8, hosted by President Trump.

The U.S. Embassy in Armenia welcomes the undertaking of these concrete steps towards reopening long-closed economic and social ties between Armenia and Turkey,” the statement from the embassy reads.
