Iran's New Leader on Life Support and Connected to Ventilator
Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who assumed office just eight days ago, is in critical condition following injuries sustained from an airstrike and is currently in the intensive care unit connected to a life-support ventilator. This was reported by The Sun.
A source from the hospital treating the 56-year-old Khamenei indicated last week that he is in a coma, has lost at least one leg, and possibly suffered liver and stomach injuries as well. Today, the same source revealed that his condition has worsened, and his life is being sustained only by machines.
The source added that Khamenei’s brain activity is at a very low level of consciousness, with his heart and lungs operating solely due to life-support devices. Without the ventilator, he would be deceased.
It is believed that Khamenei was severely injured during the same strike that killed his father, 86-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali. Various sources report that he is not currently managing the country's daily affairs, leaving the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to lead the war that is crippling Western economies.
Since his election, Khamenei has not made any public appearances, and his only address to enemies has been read by a state television presenter.
