Iran’s Armed Forces Declare Commitment to Close the Strait of Hormuz
Dozens of tanks and cargo ships have accumulated in the entry and exit areas of the Persian Gulf following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. This is confirmed by data from the Vesselfinder vessel tracking service.
According to the service, the waterway of the strait remains almost empty. During the night, the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that Iranian military personnel fully control the Strait of Hormuz. They stated that the movement of oil, commercial, and fishing vessels through the area is now impossible. The Corps also claimed that more than ten tanks had been destroyed in the strait region.
“Currently, the Strait of Hormuz is under the complete control of the Islamic Republic Navy,” said Mohammad Akbarzadeh, an official from the naval forces of the Strait of Hormuz.
At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American naval forces will begin escorting tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz if necessary. He also instructed to ensure the insurance of maritime trade in the Persian Gulf under affordable conditions.
