Europe needs to become more independent from the USA, especially in the technology sector, stated Merz. "Nostalgia and memories of the good old days" will not help Europe, said the Chancellor of Germany.
"In recent decades, we in Europe have lost enormous growth potential due to long-term reforms, excessive restrictions on entrepreneurial freedom, over-regulation, and a focus on perfection in the wrong areas," Merz stated. He believes this is why Europeans are no longer as economically strong as they could be.
