The Border 'Front Office' Within the TRIPPP Framework May Be Fully Automated: Aleksanyan
There will be a 'front office' and a 'back office'. As such, there may not be anyone physically present at the 'front office', just a scanner. This was stated by Vahagn Aleksanyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, during a press briefing.
“We discussed this in America. Recently, we were on a delegation to the NATO PA. There, at one of the airports, you simply bring your identification document close, and it scans it, then scans your face. The function that would normally require a person is performed by this device. Another aspect is cargo scanning, which is widely accepted around the world, with devices scanning the cargo. It could be a similar scenario, where robots and machines operate in that area without any nationality. This is not a critical issue; on the contrary, it represents progress that we should pursue rather than avoid,” he noted.
It is recalled that in the joint statement regarding the implementation of the TRIPPP program framework between Armenia and the United States, it was mentioned in the fundamental principles of border security and customs control that Armenia's sovereignty and jurisdiction over border and customs operations are absolute and non-negotiable. It is expected that all border and customs operations will be carried out in accordance with internationally recognized standards of border management, maintaining the principles of the August 8 declaration by utilizing the 'front office - back office' operational model.
