Zelensky Makes Statement Regarding Donbas
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that Kyiv's position on the Donbas issue remains unchanged. Ukraine is not planning to relinquish its territories and will not recognize Donbas as part of Russia, either de jure or de facto.
“You know the Russians' position; they want our Donbas. Our position is practical, realistic, and fair; we defend it and do not want to give up our Donbas,” emphasized Zelensky.
According to him, the United States is trying to find a compromise solution by proposing the idea of a free economic zone. However, the Ukrainian president specifically stressed that a free economic zone cannot mean being under the leadership of Russia.
Zelensky noted that the occupied part of Donbas is considered temporarily seized territory for Ukraine. At the same time, he acknowledged that the territorial issue remains a key topic for negotiations, and there is still no final consensus on it at this time.
