Preparatory Meeting Underway to Draft Doha Declaration
The foreign ministers of Arab and Muslim countries have begun a preparatory meeting today ahead of an extraordinary summit of their leaders, aimed at developing a unified stance regarding the recent strikes by Israel, as reported by one of the meeting's organizers to RIA Novosti.
“The preparatory meeting, during which the foreign ministers will draft the Doha declaration, is being held behind closed doors,” said the source. Following the results, a press conference is expected on Sunday evening, during which the main points of the document to be adopted by the leaders of Arab and Muslim countries will be announced.
It is worth noting that days ago, Israel launched several strikes on a building in a residential area in the center of Doha, where the negotiating delegation of Hamas was discussing the latest U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. According to the Qatari Ministry of Interior, the strikes resulted in the death of a member of the emirate's internal security forces, while several security personnel were injured.
