Significant Damage Caused to Sisian Community: Investigative Committee
The investigators of the Criminal Police's Department for Combating Organized Crime have uncovered another corruption-related crime.
Through operational and investigative measures, they obtained factual data indicating that the former leader of the Sisian community in the Syunik province violated the restrictions set by the Land Code.
In September 2021, he presented a proposal for the approval of the council and, after obtaining consent, sold approximately 4.6 hectares of common-use pasture land within the community's administrative boundaries to one of his associates through an auction.
The pasture was sold for 661,000 drams, despite its market value being around 16 million drams. This unlawful act has caused significant damage to the legal interests of the community.
The documentation has been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Committee. A criminal case has been initiated for abuse of power or authority by an official.
