Trump's Sanctions Threat a Surprise Gift to Putin, The Spectator Says
US President Donald Trump's ultimatum to Russia regarding the need to resolve the conflict in Ukraine under the threat of sanctions within 50 days has turned into a gift for Russian leader Vladimir Putin. This is reported by The Spectator.
"Ironically, Trump's threat has already provided an unexpected gift to Putin. It has effectively rendered congressional efforts to impose more serious sanctions null and void," the publication writes.
The publication notes that the US Congress has halted the discussion process of the bill by Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal regarding the tightening of restrictions against Moscow.
