150 Masked Individuals Attack Cars on Highway in France

Dozens of masked individuals, armed with metal rods and incendiary liquid bottles, launched an attack on cars on a highway in the city of Limoges, located in central France, on Saturday. According to AFP, the attackers clashed with police, resulting in injuries to 10 officers.

Authorities suspect that the incident could be linked to a reckoning between criminal gangs. The unrest occurred during the peak of the summer tourist season in France.

The armed assailants tried to block the RN141 highway during their confrontation with law enforcement. "There were between 100 and 150 masked individuals armed with bottles of incendiary liquid, fireworks, stones, iron rods, and baseball bats," said Laurent Nadon, leader of the local police union.

Mayor Émil Roger Lombert described the participants in the unrest as a "city guerrilla group."
