The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) free trade agreement will come into effect on October 6, 2026. This was announced by the Trade Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Andrey Slepnev.

According to him, all necessary procedures for the ratification and entry into force of the agreement have been completed, and the parties have exchanged the relevant notes.

The EEC has noted that the UAE is one of the main trading partners of the EAEU. In 2025, trade turnover between EAEU countries and the UAE grew by 12 percent compared to the previous year.

Under the agreement, the UAE has established a preferential customs regime for 86 percent of the export commodity list of the EAEU or for 98 percent of the volume of goods exported to the Emirates. According to the EEC, this will allow exporters from EAEU member countries to save at least $266 million annually on customs duties.

Slepnev also reported that after the agreement comes into effect, annual trade turnover between the EAEU and UAE could increase by at least $5-6 billion.
