We Are Men, This Is Our Truth: Arshakyan on the Fight in Parliament
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hakob Arshakyan, addressed the recent altercation during a parliamentary session, explaining its origins. “We are men, this is our truth. Oaths were being taken; one does not avert their gaze; they walk with their heads held high, and so forth. I want to ask, for example, does manhood start with killing a lion from a distance and riding it? If you are such a man, then we do not respect this kind of manhood. If your manhood is defined by killing citizens on March 1st in the streets, then we do not respect your manhood. If you, with your head held high, walk around the city as a terrorist, we will break your head and throw you in prison, and we do not respect that head that you walk around with so high in the city,” the MP stated.
