Traffic Changes in Yerevan's Small Center
A mobility concept is being developed for the small center of Yerevan. The head of the Transport Department, Vazgen Harutyunyan, stated, "As the first step in the changes, it has been proposed to implement restrictions on Abovyan, Nalbandyan, and Arami streets adjacent to Republic Square."
In addition to expanding dedicated bus lanes, it will also include several streets where traffic restrictions will be applied, allowing these streets to be designated for pedestrians. It is anticipated that the dedicated bus lane implemented on Mashtots Avenue will provide a continuation into Khorenatsi Street, enabling buses to turn left into Khorenatsi Street via a circular route.
Dedicated bus lanes will also be established on Khorenatsi Street in both directions, and parking will be prohibited. "A crucial aspect of the concept is to increase pedestrian areas," noted Avinyan.
