We Will Not Allow Encroachments on the Armenia-Iran Border, Says Defense Minister
Tehran will not allow encroachments on the Armenia-Iran border. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, during a meeting with his Armenian counterpart in Yerevan. His words were cited by Iranian media.
According to him, preserving territorial integrity and border stability in the region is one of the unchanging principles of Iran's policy.
"The common border between Iran and Armenia is a historical bond between the two peoples, and Tehran will not allow any encroachment on this border," he said.
The Iranian side has consistently opposed the extraterritorial corridor through Armenia, as demanded by Turkey and Azerbaijan.
The head of the defense agency arrived in Armenia on an official visit one day prior.
