Trump Plans to Travel to Istanbul
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced his intention to travel to Istanbul on Thursday, where direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine may take place that day.
The White House leader stated that the potential meeting between representatives of Moscow and Kyiv on May 15 should not be underestimated. He also mentioned that he believes positive outcomes will result from the meeting between Kyiv and Moscow's representatives.
"The meeting with Russia and Ukraine scheduled for Thursday is very important. I have been very adamant that this meeting should take place. I believe that something good can come out of this meeting," he said.
Trump also stated that he thinks Russia will agree to a 30-day ceasefire. It is noted that on Saturday, Putin proposed to Kyiv to resume direct negotiations without preconditions starting May 15. Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that he will personally arrive in Istanbul on May 15.
