We Cannot Be Threatened, Says Hungary's Prime Minister

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, speaking in parliament, stated that he was compelled to enter into open conflict with Vladimir Zelensky, reports RIA Novosti.

As the politician noted, he felt threatened by the Ukrainian president's speech regarding the inquiry to Hungarians about Ukraine's EU membership.

“International politics can only interpret this as a serious threat, and Hungarians cannot be threatened, and we cannot accept such threats. I had to take such a step and enter into open conflict,” Orbán stated.

The Prime Minister added that he had tried until the last moment to avoid a dispute with Zelensky by not responding to his provocative statements.

It is worth noting that a nationwide inquiry about Ukraine's EU membership has been launched in Hungary since April 14. Questionnaires are being sent by mail. The document contains a single question: “Do you support Ukraine's membership in the EU?” The results of the survey will be sent to Brussels after its completion in June.
