Attack on Opposition Leader in Turkey
The leader of Turkey's opposition, Ozgur Ozel, has been attacked. The chairman of the Republican People's Party was assaulted as he was leaving the Atatürk Cultural Center, where a farewell ceremony for the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Sirri Sureyya Onder, was taking place.
An assailant approached him and struck him forcefully in the face. The attacker has been taken into custody.
Turkey's Interior Minister, Yerlikaya, commented on the incident, stating, "I strongly condemn the attack on Ozgur Ozel and wish him a swift recovery."
