NATO Conducts Exercises Involving Kaliningrad Capture Scenario, Says Patrushev
NATO is conducting exercises near Russia's borders that involve a scenario for the capture of the Kaliningrad region. This was stated by Nikolai Patrushev, assistant to the President of Russia and chairman of the Maritime Collegium, in an interview with TASS.
“For the second consecutive year, NATO is carrying out the largest exercises in recent decades near our borders, during which offensive operation scenarios are being employed over a large area, from Vilnius to Odessa,” Patrushev said.
In particular, he noted that the alliance is using scenarios that include the capture of the Kaliningrad region, as well as maritime blockades of the Baltic and Black Seas, and is also delivering preventive strikes on the permanent bases of Russian nuclear deterrent forces.
