Ukraine Will Be Forced to Give Up Territories, Says Kyiv Mayor
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has stated that Ukraine may be forced to relinquish part of its territories as part of a peace agreement with Russia, amid growing pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump. He made the remarks in an interview with British media, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“One of the scenarios is to give up territories. It is unfair, but for the sake of peace (even if temporary), it could become a solution,” Klitschko noted.
According to him, to reach agreements, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may have to face the necessity of making a “painful decision.”
However, Klitschko clarified that he is not involved in the negotiations and has not discussed the potential details of resolution with Zelensky. “That is not my function. That is Zelensky's function,” he added.
Earlier, commenting on the verbal spat that occurred between Zelensky and Trump at the White House, the Kyiv mayor expressed the view that the issues raised during the meeting are better discussed “without cameras.”
