Pope Francis to Return to Vatican on Sunday
Pope Francis will complete his treatment at the Agostino Gemelli Hospital in Rome on Sunday and return to the Vatican, his doctor, Sergio Alfieri, announced on Saturday.
"The Pontiff will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow," he told reporters.
At the same time, Alfieri, who is responsible for the Pope's treatment at the hospital, warned that the patient would need time to fully recover. A course of treatment at home is expected to last for two months. During this time, public access to Francis will be restricted.
Pope Francis is 88 years old. He has been treated in the hospital for pneumonia and complications arising from the illness.
