Search Operations Continue for Person Trapped Under Avalanche, Ministry of Emergency Situations
Search operations continue for a person trapped under an avalanche, according to a statement from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
"As of 06:00, the search and rescue operations have commenced. An operational group from the MES regional rescue department, a combat unit from the firefighting and rescue squad, and another operational group have been dispatched to the scene.
A total of 29 rescuers, one employee from the Aragats Hydro Power Plant, and four climbers from the Armenian Federation of Mountaineering and Mountain Tourism are involved in the search and rescue efforts," the statement reads.
It is reported that on March 11, at 15:26, the crisis management center of the Aragatsotn regional rescue department received an alert that an avalanche had occurred on the northern peak of Mount Aragats. A group of nine individuals had been trapped by the snow, with eight members successfully escaping, while one person remains missing. This information is provided by the MES.
