Government Allocates New Funding for Road Construction, COP17, and Other Programs

The government of Armenia has approved a series of decisions during its meeting on August 6, allocating a total of more than 62 million dollars for the implementation of various state programs.

The largest funding is earmarked for the road construction sector. Specifically, 1.615 billion drams (approximately 4.4 million dollars) has been allocated for the renovation of roads leading to cluster schools. The works will take place in the regions of Aragatsotn, Gegharkunik, Lori, Shirak, Syunik, and Tavush.

Additionally, 3.72 billion drams (about 10 million dollars) has been designated for the renovation of ten segments of roads with a total length of 76.4 km, while 15.65 billion drams (around 43 million dollars) is allocated for the construction works of 63.5 km of roads. In total, funding for road construction projects exceeds 57 million dollars.

The government has also allocated an additional 120,800 dollars for the organization of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17). The funds will be directed towards the preparation of the Earth Negotiations Bulletin (ENB) report, coverage of the conference, and publication of analytical materials regarding its outcomes.

In another decision, approximately 1 million dollars has been allocated for events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Armenia's independence, for 51 diplomatic representations operating abroad. Concerts, exhibitions, book and photography displays, film screenings, conferences, and thematic discussions are planned.

From the government's reserve fund, 25.99 million drams (about 71,500 dollars) has been allocated for the construction of an external elevator at the National Assembly building.

Additionally, 29.6 million drams (approximately 81,500 dollars) has been allocated for providing and replacing passports for Armenians from Syria, as well as for the payment of state fees. In the second quarter of 2026, 489 passports were issued through the embassy in Damascus and the consulate general in Aleppo.

Moreover, the government has allocated 1.261 billion drams (about 3.4 million dollars) for the implementation of co-financing programs in the regions, aimed at meeting financial obligations to construction organizations.
