Armenian Citizens Face Deportation Risk in the US, Says Sinanyan
Armenia has data on more than 2000 citizens who are at risk of deportation from the United States. This was announced by the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan.
At the end of January, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released a report stating that according to President Donald Trump's policies towards illegal immigrants, 2808 citizens of Armenia are to be deported.
“We know about more than 2000 Armenian citizens, but that number is likely much higher. We are not aware of how many have already been deported,” Sinanyan noted. He indicated that other agencies are dealing with this issue, and deported citizens cannot be considered part of the diaspora, as they were illegally present in the US.
