Wildfires' Total Damage Assessment Reaches Astonishing Value
The estimated damage caused by wildfires in California has reached a staggering $135-150 billion. This was reported by Bill Waidel, a representative of AccuWeather.
“AccuWeather has raised its preliminary estimate of the total damage and economic losses from Southern California’s wildfires to an astonishing $135-150 billion,” Waidel wrote on his X account.
He added that meteorologists forecast strong winds, which will increase the risk of fires in the region next week. The Los Angeles area has issued mandatory evacuation orders for tens of thousands of residents.
The head of the administrative district's fire department admitted that resources have been limited and were intended to fight one or two major fires. The situation is exacerbated by the strong winds, which have temporarily halted aviation operations, and fire hydrants in the Pacific Palisades area have been out of service.
It has already been reported that 10 fatalities have resulted from the fire.
