Kyiv Does Not Consider the Possibility of a Ceasefire: Ukraine's Foreign Ministry
The representative of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry, Georgiy Tykhin, stated that he does not see realistic proposals for a Christmas ceasefire. "There is no real Christmas ceasefire on the table," he insisted.
On December 11, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, proposing to establish a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine during Christmas and to carry out a large-scale prisoner exchange.
Speaking at a major press conference in Moscow on December 19, Putin discussed Orban's proposal and noted that Russia had agreed to such measures at least three times before. The president added that this time he also declined to respond to the ceasefire and prisoner exchange proposal, and that Volodymyr Zelenskyy had rejected it as well.
