Sources from the US administration have not confirmed that the missile fired was intercontinental. BBC and CBS spoke with two American officials regarding whether Russia has actually used an intercontinental ballistic missile against Ukraine.
Ukrainian officials reported strikes on Dnipro by an intercontinental ballistic missile. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that this conclusion is based on the observed characteristics of the missile, but investigations are still ongoing. Moscow has not commented on these statements.
Both administration sources agreed to speak on condition of anonymity. According to them, the missile is indeed ballistic, but not intercontinental. One of the interlocutors stated that it is a medium-range missile.
