6000-8000 Dram Offered for Participation in 'Tavush for the Homeland' Movement Gathering: Investigation Committee
The preliminary investigation regarding the case of material inducement of individuals to participate in a gathering on behalf of the 'Tavush for the Homeland' movement has been completed by the Investigation Committee of Armenia.
Following the investigative and evidentiary actions, it was revealed that a 35-year-old individual, H.Sh., attempted to ensure large attendance at a gathering organized by the movement on May 26, 2024, at Republic Square in Yerevan. To secure the physical presence of individuals residing in the Vardenis community of Gegharkunik province, he promised to offer each participant 6000-8000 AMD, fuel, and if they stayed overnight at the gathering, also food and drinks, having reached an agreement with his relative regarding this.
However, the relative had no intention of fulfilling the promise to induce participation, resulting in the failure to carry out the crime organized by the 35-year-old man, due to circumstances beyond his control, as well as the discovery of the matter by law enforcement bodies.
Based on sufficient evidence, H.Sh. has been formally charged under part 2 of Article 236 of the RA Criminal Code. By the court's decision, he was initially subjected to house arrest, later changed to administrative supervision. The preliminary investigation has concluded, and the materials of the proceedings, with an accusatory conclusion, have been sent to court.
The same individual has also faced criminal prosecution under part 3, point 3 of Article 255 and part 1 of Article 457 of the RA Criminal Code. Although the investigation established that false documents and decisions were presented during the registration period of the corresponding movable property, making it unlawfully his, considering that the public danger of the act committed by the defendant significantly decreased under the provisions of the RA Government's decree number 1614-N of October 10, 2024, which improves the legal status of individuals, the prosecuting authority submitted a motion to the supervising prosecutor to discontinue public criminal prosecution against the defendant in this aspect, which was granted.
