Southern Caucasus Railway Comments on Woman Hit by Freight Train
A resident of Yerevan, Armine D., was in an unauthorized area of the railway tracks when she was struck by a freight train. This information is provided by the Southern Caucasus Railway company.
It was reported that on October 26, around 09:50, a 58-year-old resident of Yerevan, Manvel N., hit local resident Arine D. with a freight train on Babajanyan Street. The injured individual was transported to 'Astghik' Medical Center with a severe diagnosis, where she passed away without regaining consciousness.
'All measures were taken by the locomotive crew to avoid the collision, but the freight train could not be stopped in time,' the statement said.
It was noted that a residential garden's fence was constructed in the traversable section of the railway path at the accident site, representing a serious violation of construction norms.
The Southern Caucasus Railway company urges citizens to adhere to crossing rules in permissible areas of the railway infrastructure and emphasizes the inadmissibility of citizens being on the tracks.
Furthermore, the company reported that apart from the aforementioned incident, on October 27, in an uncontrolled crossing in the Karakert-Dalarik section, a suburban electric train from Gyumri to Yerevan collided with a VAZ 2107 passenger car, which ignored a red traffic signal and drove in front of the moving train. Fortunately, due to the emergency braking applied by the locomotive crew, no one was injured.
