How Many Death Cases Have Been Recorded in the Armed Forces in 2024
In our research, it has been recorded that in 2024, there have been 39 cases of death among servicemen in the Armed Forces, with only 4 being due to violations of the ceasefire regime. This was announced today, October 18, at a discussion titled “Increase in Soldier Deaths in Peace Time: Who is Responsible?” by Nazeli Movsisyan, a human rights defender from the Helsinki Civil Assembly Vanadzor office.
Nazeli Movsisyan pointed out that the number of deaths in non-combat situations is significantly higher compared to previous years. “Throughout the entire last year, there were 64 cases of death in non-combat situations and 19 cases due to violations of the ceasefire regime. This year, approximately 90 percent of the death cases are in non-combat situations. If we compare the dynamics over the last 10-12 years, we find that the average of non-combat fatalities in the Armed Forces is 80 percent or more,” emphasized Nazeli Movsisyan.
