The Issue of Prisoners is Not Included in the Peace Agreement
The issue of prisoners is not included in the potential peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, during a press briefing with journalists.
The issue of prisoners is addressed in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, in which Russia and Azerbaijan committed to resolving the issue of the return of prisoners.
“Negotiations and discussions regarding prisoners are included in all formats. This issue is not part of the peace agreement,” noted Simonyan.
He recalled that the issue of prisoners is included in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, where Russia and Azerbaijan undertook to address the return of prisoners and hostages. For the Speaker of the National Assembly, it is important to understand whether Russia and Azerbaijan intend to withdraw their signatures from the November document in this context.
