Video: How Many Artsakh Residents Have Already Received Armenian Citizenship
As of August 30, there are more than 4,300 applications for citizenship submitted by individuals forcibly displaced from Artsakh, with approximately 3,000 having already received Armenian citizenship. This was reported by Armen Ghazaryan, head of the Migration and Citizenship Service, during a meeting of the Armenian Parliament’s State-Legal Committee.
“One important consideration should be noted: minors have not applied because the process is dependent on the parents' passport changes,” he stated.
“Regarding the expedited procedure, it is already in effect. Under the law on citizenship, the timeframe specified is 90 working days. In standard cases, this takes about 4 months, while for individuals forcibly displaced from Artsakh, the process mainly averages around 2 months. All regional subdivisions are accepting citizenship applications, which accelerates the process,” added the head of the Migration Service.
